Cincinnati Guide for Entrepreneurs
It was Flourish Media‘s first time in Cincinnati, but we didn’t feel too far from home! Everyone was very welcoming and especially kind at the Pretty Professional Conference. Even random people, such as our Uber drivers and restaurant employees were very helpful and nice to the team. Having lived in St. Louis myself for four years, it is no doubt that the Midwest is home of the friendliest people and communities. We loved the tight niched community that we experienced in just 4 days!
If you find yourself ready to explore the wonderful city of Cincinnati or known as Cincy by the locals, we got you! Who says you can’t take a business trip and be a tourist too?
Where To Stay
We had the pleasure of calling the Kingsgate Hotel at The University of Cincinnati our “home” for 4 nights. You can expect an upscale yet casual atmosphere during your stay. Kingsgate offers state of the art fitness center, spa, breakfast buffet, lounge/bar area, and more! The area is known as uptown Cincinnati, within a 5 mile radius to shopping, restaurants, and nightlife! We love it so much that we’ll definitely stay here again next year.
Upon arrival, the team made their way to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center! If you are interested to learn more about the African American slave history and educate yourself on modern day slavery I highly recommend this museum. It’s not an upbeat environment, instead it helps you empathize with the horrific events that happened (and currently are) happening in the world. Overall a very raw and great experience for all of us.
Friday and Saturday we attended Professional Pretty Conference, you can read more about our experience HERE. If you’re here next year for the conference, you’ll have time to explore afterwards.
Once PPC was over the 2nd day, we heard about Taste of Cincinnati, the longest running FREE food festival in America! The team entered a food frenzy! Some of the best local restaurants and food trucks were present, over 100 total. Approximately 550,000 people attend the annual food extravaganza making Taste one of the nations largest street festivals. The party doesn’t stop there, Taste of Cincinnati is also a music festival. Featuring local and national recording stars performing on multiple stages throughout the event. Flourish has a blast!
A few places we ate at throughout our trip was Holy Grail across the street from the Ball Park stadium. If you want to experience Local Cincinnati, I suggest coming here! Very low key spot on a week night. Keystone Restaurant and Bar is great for a night cap. Drinks are all under $10! Plus you get to hear the music playing from the lounge next door without getting too wild. ;) Lastly, Habanero Tacos. Very down to earth eatery. Quick food joint and you can grab a frozen margarita while you’re there!
It was a great first trip to Cincinnati. The experience was certainly different than Miami, Orlando, and Atlanta. We cannot wait to come back next year!
