Grant Winner Becomes Preferred Videographer - Xenia Marcinko, The Magus Films

When Xenia Marcinko won the Flourish Media Small Business Grant in 2020, it gave her ammunition for fearlessly telling stories through Miami-based video content production company, Magus Films. In this interview, she shares how the grant impacted her business and the most important investments she made.

At Flourish Media we want to help the next generation of business women achieve their dreams. That mission will be on full display Feb. 17 - 18 at the Flourish Media Conference in Miami, FL, where we will offer tools and strategies for women entrepreneurs to learn tools and strategies to build successful online brands. Because our ethos is all about putting our money where our mouth is, we are celebrating this annual event by giving away three grants to emerging and established women entrepreneurs for $1,000 each. One grant will be given to a random ticket holder, so be sure to get your ticket here

How did winning the business grant change the way you saw your business?

It opened a path of connections, networking and opportunities that I will be forever grateful for.

Why did you decide to apply?

I mean, why not? I was already going as an attendee to the FMC 2020 and since I love producing content, I decided to do the video and apply.

How has winning the FMC Small Business Grant improved your mindset around applying for other opportunities?

It put me in the direction I wanted to go in. Being surrounded with other business owners on the next level made me focus and work for what I want to achieve.

How has your business changed since the day you won the FMC Small Business Grant?

We won the grant at the beginning of 2020 and even everything that happened that year with the pandemic, it ended up being a good business year. That success continued in 2021, which has been our most successful year so far. We made a lot of connections and working close with Flourish Media has been a blessing.

What is your next big milestone within your business?

Hitting seven figures and to premiere one of our projects in a cinema here in Miami.

What’s something you’ve been working on in your business that you want the world to know?

We have developed a new tool to help brands and business owners tell their stories in an effective and deeper way. It is called The Magus Archetypal Analysis, which is based on the concepts of Carl Gustav Jung. We have mixed that up with our video production experience so our clients can go deep within themselves so they can find the way to really connect with their audiences and their feelings.

Why should other women small businesses owners apply for the FMC Small Business Grant?

Women helping women is awesome and FMC makes it easy and smooth for you. Starting out we sometimes think we won't win, or why, or we need more cash than the prize. Let me tell you, it is not about the prize, it is about the connections and the networking winning the grant will open for you. Go for it. Go and grab it!.

The Flourish Media Conference Small Business grant is open to anyone who identifies as a woman and is over the age of 21. Applicants must submit an executive summary, 90-day business plan to enter and upload a 30-second video to Facebook or Instagram. Apply here.
