BEHIND THE LEAF
Fear and ignorance, hold women back from opportunities, perpetuates gender inequality, and limits overall economic growth in rural & urban communities.
Women-owned firms (51% or more) account for 31% of all privately held firms and contribute 14% of employment in the United States. If we want to elevate our communities, keep our residents employed and give stable households to our children, more women need to start businesses.
To date, small businesses make up 99.7 percent of U.S. employer firms. There is no data about which minority group owns the most small businesses. However, we know that when women have access to capital supported by a basic understanding of the resources available to her; there is a positive ripple effect on the community.
