4 Reasons Why You Need a Facebook Group

Facebook is focusing on Groups – so should you.

Mark Zuckerberg recently announced the company’s agenda at this year’s F8 Conference. Part of that agenda included a major focus on supporting the Facebook Groups feature.

“[W]e’re rolling out a fresh new design for Facebook that’s simpler and puts your communities at the center. We’re also introducing new tools that will help make it easier for you to discover and engage with groups of people who share your interests”.

- Zuckerberg

What does this mean for you as a business? Well, it means that there is a huge opportunity to get your group more visible to the Facebook community and there will be more features and tools that will make managing your group easier more beneficial.

Facebook is also starting to prioritize Facebook Group content on its newsfeed.

This is good news because it is organic, unpaid reach directly to your community. If you have an airtight social strategy, this kind of action is super valuable! The stats aren’t out on what the reach is algorithmically (not yet at least), but since Facebook has been so vocal about how they plan to prioritize relevant content on people’s feeds, if someone is a member of a Facebook Group that automatically triggers Facebook to recognize that this is content someone desires to see.

Facebook Groups Allow You to Promote

There are probably hundreds of thousands of Facebook Groups available right now. We love them because they are an opportunity to connect with like-minded people, create meaningful interaction, and expand our network. A lot of them do not allow you to promote yourself or your business outright. Which is fine, we can play by the rules.

But with your own group, you can do anything you want! Facebook allows for that kind of flexibility. This means that you can create a social strategy that allows for you to draw your ideal customers and clients into a controlled space (your group), offer tons of value via posts, live streams, etc, and then promote your services too. This is a win for everyone involved.

Facebook Groups are FREE for You to Create

Lastly, we need to make mention that creating and maintaining a Facebook Group is free for you. Who doesn’t like that! It doesn’t cost you a single thing to get started.

Are Facebook Groups for every type of business, NO! But, if you have a desire to build a community around your audience, it is something we definitely recommend. Building online community is one of the most lucrative things you can do in the online space and we want to help you do that! If you are needing a little support in that area, make sure to book your call today!
