Moving as a Freelancer

Moving as a Freelancer

Freelance work gives you the freedom to work from anywhere in the world! During your big move it’s important you take the following steps to make your transition as easy and smooth as possible.

Time to Upgrade

Take this move as an opportunity to revamp your website. Make any changes in your rates, change your location, if you haven’t already inform your current clients about your move. If you’re looking to get new clients in the area think of any mini service, you could offer them for free that could get them interested in working with you. You could reach out to businesses personally that you think could be interested in your service, make sure to have your portfolio updated in this case.

Stay Organized

Depending on where you’re moving to, there may be a time difference between you and your client. Scheduling and organization for this will need to be done in order to avoid missing deadlines. Getting different planners, calendars, or Trello Boards for your clients on different time schedules and keeping one master schedule available could help you keep organized.

Using scheduling sites like Hootsuite can be a life saver if you’re handling social media content for your clients.

Find your tribe

Now that you’ve settled into your new abode it’s time to find a community in your field that can help you get referrals. You can also investigate the competition in your area. Joining Facebook groups of other freelancers in your area could help you meet other business owners. Finding networking events in your area can also be a great way of meeting others.
