Do you remember asking your parents to stay at a party past curfew? Or asking a sibling to help you sneak back into the house? Do you remember how you felt after they both flat out told you NO? That pit in your stomach, that notion your world has ended...that is the feeling of rejection.
In today's digital age, we don’t just feel rejection at work or within personal relationships but we feel it on a daily basis. Thanks to social media, dating apps and the like, we’re all connected to wider net of people. Because of this, we feel rejection when someone doesn’t interact with your Instagram photo or they don’t swipe right on your Bumble profile. You might feel silly for even thinking this but in reality it’s quite normal.
Our brains are wired to have an emotional response, the important takeaway here is that you shouldn’t let the pesky feeling of rejection bring you down. Everyone is going through it, people just handle / receive rejection in different ways.
