Achieve Aligned Living | Pitch to Investors at Flourish Media Conference

Each year at the Flourish Media Conference, businesses are encouraged to pitch to the panel of investors. There isn’t always a clear winner, this isn’t a pitch competition. It’s a chance to enrich relationships with local change-makers and gain actionable feedback. It’s a moment for business owners to connect directly with funding opportunities. If you play your cards right, you could walk away with deep connections and eager wallets ready to invest in your business.

As a small business owner in the health and wellness industry, Danielle Anderson understands that in order to directly connect with her target audience, she has to be visible.

Her business, Be Well With Danielle, offers yoga classes, wellness workshops, along with full-spectrum birth & bereavement doula support for new mothers. By hosting a booth at the Floruish Media Conference, she was able to network and offer her impactful services to attendees.

Throughout her journey to aligned living, Danielle has discovered her mission to help others pursue whole health - spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical - so that they might experience more life to the full and become agents of healing in their circles of influence.

Danielle took faith in her purpose by pitching her business to the FMC panel of investors from Morgan Stanly, Bricklle Finance, Knot & Key, and many more.

After the seventh annual conference had ended, we approached Danielle to get the scoop on her experience.

Read her insight below!

Why is it important to pitch your business?

“I know there are people and organizations that will benefit from this work, and those that want to support it. Pitching gave me the opportunity to share my heart as well as grow in the skill of communicating with investors.”

Why did you decide to pitch?

“I felt it was important to step out in courage to let others know what my business is about because I believe in the work, and am confident that it changes lives. I know I can't do this work alone, so I welcomed the opportunity to pitch in the hopes that I would gain the help I need to grow as a business.”

How difficult would you say the pitch portion was?

“I would give it a solid 4. I wasn’t nervous at all!”

How does pitching align with your business doing social good?

I have the vision to bring wellness offerings to people and communities that often don't have access to these modalities. Pitching and gaining financial support will allow Be Well to bring healing offerings at low or no cost to people that need them. Pitching absolutely supports my mission of helping get women out of survival mode so that they might thrive.”

What advice do you have for women business owners who receive the FMC Small Business Grant?

“My encouragement is to show up in confidence & courage, which doesn't mean that fear is completely eradicated. Believe in what you do, be your first customer, and keep going with humble boldness.”

What is your next big milestone within your business?

“Streamlining my offerings and updating my pricing matrix. As I've continued to do this work it has become clear that I need to step back and get very clear on my mission, core values, avatar, and offerings. This will help to maximize what I bring to my clients.”

What’s something you’ve been working on in your business that you want the world to know?

“I am about to launch virtual and in-person retreat experiences. I often call myself a "walking retreat" and I'm looking forward to increasing the time I spend with women through these new offerings.”

FMC’s private Facebook Group has grown significantly in recent years, how are you using that Facebook Group to help your business flourish?

“I use it to collab with other like-minded women.”

Why should other women small business owners attend Flourish Media Conference and what will they learn from your talk?

“The private Facebook group continues to remind me that I am not alone. It's always energizing to be reminded of the amazing work that women across the country are doing. I always leave with a little more fuel in my tank after visiting the page.”

We love what Danielle stands for. It’s business owners like her who help shape our future while activating abundant & aligned living for all women.
