A Naturalistic Approach to Connection | Pitch to Investors at Flourish Media Conference
Each year at the Flourish Media Conference, businesses are encouraged to pitch to the panel of investors. There isn’t always a clear winner, this isn’t a pitch competition. It’s a chance to enrich relationships with local change-makers and gain actionable feedback. It’s a moment for business owners to connect directly with funding opportunities. If you play your cards right, you could walk away with deep connections and eager wallets ready to invest in your business.
As a small business owner, Maritza Torres, took the opportunity to pitch her business to investors at the Flourish Media Conference. Her company, Behavioral Spark, provides understanding to caregivers of children with special needs who often feel frustrated, tired, lost, and overwhelmed because their child struggles with communication, social play, and daily living skills.
Behavioral Spark believes in a naturalistic approach and steps away from outdated methods and involves play therapy, parent coaching, and other effective techniques that have been scientifically proven to have a more positive effect on the family as a whole.
In order to support more families and children, Maritza pitched her business to the FMC panel of investors from Morgan Stanly, Bricklle Finance, Knot & Key, and many more. She took an opportunity to expand her reach; allowing her to share her story and admiration for her purpose.
After the seventh annual conference had ended, we approached Maritza to get the scoop on her experience.

How difficult would you say the pitch portion was?

How does pitching align with your business doing social good?
“As a non-profit, we are all about social good but we can not achieve our goals unless we get the word out about our programs and mission.”
