Tribe Feature | RoK Planning and Coaching
At any point of your career, it’s always good to learn new career tips. Whether you’ve passed the beginning stage of your career and you are an aspiring leader, or if you’re in the middle of your career and it’s not what you expected. Whichever stage you are at, we recommend looking into this week's powerhouse entrepreneur, Dr. Sydney D Richardson, owner of Rae of Knowledge (RoK). RoK is an organization that coaches professionals on leadership and career transitioning. Dr. Sydney has developed an effective methodology for both career stages that leads you to the results you want. Dr. Richardson works with her clientele through workshops, webinars, and coaching sessions, where her main areas of focus are new leaders, and how to navigate career changes, both of which are big milestones in your career and having some professional advice is definitely beneficial.
Dr. Richardson started RoK in 2018. She grew her experience by working in higher education and nonprofits for 15 years. During her career, she focused her work on leadership and career development, which led her to finding her purpose and launching her own business. She mentions why she started RoK through a TEDtalk she appeared in for the TEDxWinstonSalemWomen. She started RoK because she wanted to help others find their why. She shared her tips on how evaluating your to-do list can help you determine if you’re on track with reaching your goal. She said that assessing the tasks on your checklist and determining if they are truly connected with your purpose, will allow you to be more effective with your day to day tasks. Not only will this allow you to be more efficient with your time, but it will also cut out the unnecessary things on your check-list out that are not leading you to where you want to go. Dr. Richardson shares more of her career knowledge through her recently published book, “Leadership is Hard”, where she dives into the 10 attributes of effective leadership through scenarios, tips, and examples.
Dr. Richardson had the opportunity to speak more about her experience and expertise with Flourish Media. She shared how she started her business and gave tips for women entrepreneurs who are also on the same journey to entrepreneurship. We asked her one thing women should to consider when building a brand, and she said to think about your interests and natural talents, and not what others want from you. Her answer feeds into her whole methodology of how your everyday tasks need to be aligned with your purpose and to cut out whatever is not feeding into that. Dr. Richardson also recommends journaling as a self-care tip for businesswomen.
Dr. Richardson wraps up her talk with FM as she shares how important tribe is to her and her business.
