Dionne McGee is the founder of the North-Carolina based consulting firm. McGee and her team work with government, corporate, and small business clients that are looking to strengthen their leadership team. McGee has 20 years of corporate experience working on executive sales teams, where she closed million dollar deals. McGee utilizes her experience of leading successful teams and applies it to the trainings for her clients. She has also written a book called, “Finding your ROAR”, where she dives into the aspects of what makes a good leader.

Dionne took the time to speak with Flourish Media about her journey into entrepreneurship. She came from humble beginnings, which helped build her resilience leading her to attain her well-earned success. Her big break was when she became a certified project manager of an executive sales team, but then discovered her new aspiration of becoming an entrepreneur. Dionne describes her flourish story as when she started her career transition. It was in her executive role when she noticed the lack of diversity within the 4,000 employee company. She stated that the company lacked people of color where she was the only African American woman in the executive suite. She says it was that situation where she learned the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion. She figured she would take the skills she learned in her corporate work and apply it to her own business.

Dionne wrapped up her conversation with Flourish Media by sharing her self-care tips and the importance of tribe. She stated a self-care tip business women should try is balance. “We can’t do it all, we need to know when to our-source and expand.” Tribe is also very important to Dionne, she said “Community is everything! That’s what keeps us all going.”
