Tribe Feature: Rochelle Howard
When it comes to being a woman in business, we have to work twice as hard to reach milestones in our industry compared to our male counterparts, but this isn’t news to you. You’re here because you had a goal, you worked hard, stayed up long nights and woke up early in order to achieve those little milestones that got you to where you are now. But guess what, you’re not done and neither is our Tribe member Rochelle Howard.
Rochelle is a published author along with being a motivational and leadership speaker hailing from a small town in Florida where she was raised by her parents who worked in the local factories in her area. Because of this, a lesson that has also stuck with her is to take all the opportunities you can get and remember to stay true to yourself.
By leading her life with authenticity, Rochelle has been able to earn a law degree along with securing her business administration degree shortly after. She has also worked in leadership for 15 years where she was involved in legal and law enforcement along with joining the U.S. Army JAG Corps for 8 years before beginning her current business. But with already so many goals accomplished under her belt, this doesn’t mean this go-getter is ready to call it quits.
“Being a positive female support system and eliminating the female competition continues to be my goal.” says Rochelle. “Every time another woman thanks me for being uplifting and real with them, I know I am doing my part to eliminate the competition so many of us are used to.”
So how does she stay motivated to continue crushing her goals? It’s simple! She utilizes contemplative practices to help relax. Similar to meditating, she is able to stay focused on her goals along with easing into centering herself and her mind. Allowing her thoughts to roam freely is something she has adapted throughout her career and it works!, Try it out for yourself sometime!
But because of her background, one can gather that she is one for the people. Rochelle believes in uplifting your community and being someone anybody can rely on for help or guidance. Don’t allow her tough exterior fool you, she hopes to create a space where everyone feels welcomed because we are all a part of one unity.
“Everyone is welcome.” noted Rochelle when asked how important having a tribe to her business is.. “My tribe is for anyone and everyone! We are one of the same. Everyone, no matter their creed or background, is encouraged to join.”
Rochelle understands that having a strong sense of self worth and authenticity is what sets her apart. It’s not who you know in order to reach your goals, it’s how you work to secure your goals. But it hasn’t always been this easy for her, she has had to put herself out there in order to get to where she is today.
“The biggest risk I have done is letting everyone know who I am. I let my guard down and it has definitely paid off because my brand is now soaring!” explained Rochelle.
Not everything is granted to you. Many of us learn this the hard way, but one thing we can all learn is how to turn fate into a roadmap. Take Rochelle’s advice, set your goals and don’t allow anything to block your path to success!
